India vs England Test 5 Day 3

India finishes the test in a hurry!

Indian batsmen were in a hurry to finish the last test on day 3. England completed the Indian humiliation after India were all out at 94 in 29.2 overs in the second inning. England won by an inning and 244 runs. The inning defeat came on the day 3 itself. Not a single Indian batsman was able to put any kind of resistance in the second inning. The "in form" captain Dhoni was also out for a duck.

This is the second innings defeat for India in two consecutive tests.

Earlier in the morning session, England increased their second inning score to 486. Root scored a century and stayed not out at 149.

England won the 5-match series 3-1.

India vs England Test 5 Day 1

India collapses again in the first session!

England were 62/0 at the end of the day after India was routed at 148. It could have been much worse without the last wicket stand of 58 between Dhoni and Ishant Sharma which took India from 9/90 to 148. Only Dhoni showed some class and was the last man out at his person score of 82.

India was 36/5 after the first 20 overs, 6/44 after 30 overs, and 8/79 after 40 overs. M Vijay (18), Gambhir (0), Pujara (4), Kohli (6), and Rahane (0) were back in the pavilion in the first session.

India vs England Test 4 Day 3

India surrenders without a fight for inning defeat!

England routed India by an inning and 54 runs on day 3. India were all out for 161 runs in the second inning. Except Ashwin no Indian batsman showed any fight. Gambhir, recalled after a long time, could not take advantage of the chance and went down cheaply in the second inning as well. 6 Indian batsman entered double digits but could not convert the start into big scores. M Ali took 4 wickets for 39 runs. Anderson and Jordan shared 2 each.

Looks like India was in a hurry to finish off the game on the third day and go shopping for the remaining two days of this Test.

Inid vs England Test 4 Day 1

England destroys India on day1!

England were 113/3 after winding down India at 152 just before Tea. Anderson and Broad set it up by exploiting the helpful conditons brilliantly in the morning. India were 8/4 when Pujara fell for 0. Earlier India won toss and decided to bat first. Only Dhoni (70) and Ashwin (40) showed some resistance. Rahane (24) was the only other batsman to cross individual score of 4. Broad had a spectacular day and took 6 for 24 in 13.4 overs.

Fall of first 4 wickets: 8-1 (Gambhir 4), 8-2 (Vijay 0), 8-3 (Kohli 0), 8-4 (Pujara 0)

Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir, included in the Manchester Test squad in place of Shikhar Dhawan, was able to score only 4 runs and was taken out by Broad. Then Murali Vijay and Virat Kohli could not do anything special and went out without opening an account.

For this match, while India has made three changes there has been no change in the England squad. Opener Gautam Gambhir in place of Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma in place of spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and paceman Mohammad Sami in place of Varun Aaron has been given the chance.
